Scott Brown has labelled Sam Vokes as the difference between Wycombe and Fleetwood Town.
The legendary Celtic skipper watched on as his side lost out 2-0 at Adams Park to make it three defeats on the spin following their FA Cup heartbreak at Championship leaders Burnley and a single goal defeat at Cheltenham last weekend. Chris Forino and Vokes fired the goals for the Chairboys to take all three points but the visitors had chances of their own through Jack Marriott, Carlos Mendes Gomes and Phoenix Patterson.
The former Hoops man believes his side did well to get a hold of the game after an early setback and just couldn't get the ball in the back of the net as he hailed Vokes' quick touch and finish. The hitman has played at the top level in England and also picked up over 60 caps for Wales with his quality on show for all to see with Brown tagging him the difference maker with his hold up and link up play.

He told the Fleetwood Town official website : “You’re going to be up against it coming here and they started well; we didn’t switch on from a second phase of a corner, Harvey [Macadam] sprints out a little bit too keen and it gets slipped down the side and it’s an easy ball into the box for the goal.
“Later on in the first half, I think we started to get a good hold of the game and started the second half well. We started to use the width of the park, with the two number eights going further forwards and created a good amount of chances.
“We just couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net at that point and then [Sam] Vokes’ chance is a great finish; you can’t take anything away from that as it’s a quick touch and a top finish – I think he was the difference between the two sides tonight with his hold up play and link up play.”
On the attacking threats posed from his side, he continued: “I felt like we were on top and in control in the second half at that point; the pivot was good in terms of receiving the ball and pushing forwards and we were pushing up the park at a good pace as well. For us, we are disappointed to come away with a 2-0 score line as we haven’t scored in two now.
“We created a lot more chances today than we did against Cheltenham, Jack [Marriott]’s willingness and running ability was exceptional today. He works hard and for us as a team, that’s a given now, you have to work hard and make sure that we produce high-quality performances.
“To be a high pressing team, you have to do that and I thought Jack’s work rate was top today, he just needs a goal and I think that will build confidence for him. The 4-3-3 shape suits Carlos [Mendes Gomes] and Phoenix [Patterson] as we can get higher up the park and press further up as well.”
