As the days tick down towards the Premiership curtain raiser, fans are starting to get a bit tetchy and the predictions are becoming bolder.
No love lost in a Hotline which had Old Firm fans attempting to lay early markers for the campaign ahead. Arrin Geddes, Irvine, said: "I see we’re getting the upcoming season’s predictions from the Rangers fans already. Once they’ve finished polishing their ‘respect’, ‘much stronger’ and ‘stamina’ trophies, they can head over to Celtic Park to see the two trophies Celtic won on merit last season, That's exactly the same amount their team has taken 10 years to amass."
Bud Hay, Dumfries, said: "The Premiership hasn't even started yet and we have Rangers fans on the Hotline making comments which suggest they believe they will have the title in the bag. Celtic will do their talking on the pitch so bring it on." Ian McKendrick, emailed: "The Celtic fans are going on and on about the signings Rangers have made but it's a bit rich to talk them down. I don't remember the signings Celtic have made being standouts for their previous clubs."
Eddie Easson, Ballingry, said: "I said on here weeks ago and was slaughtered for insisting Rangers would need to sell in order to buy. One player has gone another on the way with more to follow judging by the amount of strikers they're signing.
"For the uneducated, no business can stand the losses Rangers have had in the previous years. Now they have woken up and smelled the coffee and are trying to balance the books."
Gordon Ashley, Ayr , said: "Harry Kewell will prove to be a masterstroke from the champions this season. Within a few weeks you can already see improvements with Liel Abada, David Turnbull, Matt O'Riley and Reo Hatate all looking different players to the point I don’t think we need another midfielder as Yosuke Ideguchi looks a great replacement for the captain."
John Bruce, emailed: "Four years ago Rangers realised that it was no longer good enough just to have a ticket to one of the European parties. They wanted to attend and stay as long as they could. Since then the team and the fans have had some memorable nights.
Now, the penny seems to be dropping at Parkhead, and hardly anyone will recognise who the oldies are as all they talk about is 1967."
Cameron Hall, Edinburgh, said: "Rangers and Celtic are the Poundland versions of Chelsea and Manchester City and are just as dislikable as their English equivalents. Unfortunately, for the last few decades no other Scottish club has been able to compete financially with the Old Firm taking it in turns to buy the league. I was merely pointing out to the perennially deluded John Bruce that in this scenario Rangers have been the Chelsea to Celtic’s Man City for some time now and they probably won’t be buying the league again any time soon."
George Wilson, West Sussex, said: "Hotline caller Eddie Eason said I should have a trip up to Govan from West Sussex.
"Does he not realise Rangers supporters travel from all over the globe to watch them. I see fewer games now that I'm retired but when I moved from Scotland to London I was a debenture and season ticket holder for years. I hate flying so I used to travel up from London by bus or train straight back overnight and straight to work. The last time I was in the Rangers trophy room we had more trophies than Celtic, including three more league titles."
Jamie McLaren. Maryhill, said: "The obsession some Celtic fans have with all things Rangers really is strange. It's like having a creepy stalker. I'm sure Sigmund Freud would have a field day unlocking the mystery wrapped in an enigma that is a Celtic fan's head. They should really worry about their own affairs especially with the champions league around the corner after all Angeball' and all its schoolboy naivety was painfully and embarrassingly exposed last season in Europe."
And finally.
Jimmy Mac, Glasgow said: "The guff from Neil Doncaster that VAR cannot be introduced until half way through a season is unbelievable to say the least. Is VAR not being introduced from the start to allow a certain club to gain points by a host of dubious decisions?"
