Celtic have agreed to sell Arne Engels to West Ham for £22 million, according to a new report.

The Belgian midfielder, who joined the Hoops in 2024, has been at the centre of transfer speculation since January.

Despite playing in both of Celtic's league matches this season, Engels now looks set to leave for the London Stadium, according to The West Ham Way.

Nottingham Forest had a bid in the region of £25 million rejected in the winter, as Celtic wanted to keep him for their Premiership title push. Interest from the Premier League and Bundesliga was reported over the summer, but West Ham emerged as the frontrunners for his signature.

The Hammers, who were relegated to the Championship last season, see the 22-year-old as a potential key player in their bid for promotion back to the top flight.

Engels, who has two years left on his current contract, scored seven goals in 46 appearances for the double winners last season. Since joining Celtic in 2024, he has made 100 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.

The sale of Engels marks a significant departure for Celtic and will no doubt leave a gap in their squad.
