Celestial wedding and its inheritance on the life of people of Telangana

The celestial wedding of the divine couple Lord Rama and Goddess Sita had its inheritance on the life of the people of Telangana from time immemorial, senior archaeologist D. Kanna Babu said.

He said that the early life and culture of Telangana was very unique and unsurpassed as people of this geographically tiny region were very closely associated with the life of Rama and Sita.

Explaining the affluent Ramayana inheritance of the mighty Kakatiya dynasty, Mr Babu said that the art pavilion at the triple shrine of Lord Shiva at Mupparam village in Warangal district portray the great epic Ramayana stories in the most amazing and colourful frescos embellished on ceilings and beams of the Rangamandapa, apart from imposing architectural grandeur.

“All these magnificent narrative murals like – Fight between Vali and Sugriva, Lord Rama shooting arrows on Vali, Ravana`s appearance at Parnasala, Rama searching for Sita etc., most dexterously drawn with natural colours gleaned from the herbal leaves,`` he said.

The incomparable architectural splendour was created during the regime of Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva some 800 years ago by excellently skilled artists and architects of his time.

Unfortunately, these precious colourful paintings faded out beyond recognition due to the heavy lashes of rainy water through the shattered roofs for centuries.

“The remaining few feeble painted lines are also in a bad state of preservation and ready to extinct. Both the ferocious nature and disruptive human elements were solely responsible for the plight of the most exalted art pavilion of the Kakatiyas,” Mr. Babu said.

The mighty royal families who sojourned the lands of the present-day Telangana i.e. the Early Chalukyas of Badami, Chalukyas of Vemulavada, Kakatiyas, Recharla Reddi Ffmily etc., and also several individual nobles, and regional chiefs laid the sanctums to the Lord Ram during their regime.
