The Harris campaign has taken a unique approach to encourage college students to vote by mobilizing celebrities to engage with them while they wait in long lines to cast their ballots. Actor Paul Rudd was dispatched to visit students waiting in line in Philadelphia, while other celebrities connected with students via FaceTime at various universities.
Some of the celebrities who participated in this initiative include Jennifer Garner at Villanova, Josh Gad at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, Mark Cuban at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, and Demi Lovato at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The campaign reported that long lines were observed at all of these locations, as well as at eight college campuses in Wisconsin where students faced wait times of up to one or two hours.
This strategy of using celebrities to engage with young voters aims to keep students motivated and informed while they wait to exercise their right to vote. By leveraging the influence and reach of these well-known figures, the Harris campaign hopes to inspire more young people to participate in the electoral process and make their voices heard.
