Celebrations are being planned to mark the 275th anniversary of the birth of the “father of the US Navy”.
The milestone will be marked at the John Paul Jones Birthplace Museum at Arbigland near Kirkbean on July 9.
The big family day out will include games, a barbecue, a bouncy castle and tours of the museum.
There will also be live music from Norloch Ceilidh Band and Ukefrolics, Tom Hughes and the bagpipes and Highland dancing from the Karen Little Dance Academy.
And, most importantly, there will be birthday cake.
John Paul Jones was born at the cottage at Arbigland on July 6, 1747.
He is seen by many people as the “father of the US Navy” and has a statue in Washington DC as well as a US Navy ship – USS John Paul Jones – named in his honour.
