Celebrated AP Reporter Linda Deutsch Dies At 80

Deutsch, who battled pancreatic cancer, breathed her last at her Los Angeles residence, surrounded by loved ones.

Throughout her illustrious career, Deutsch reported on a myriad of significant trials, including those of Charles Manson, O.J. Simpson, and Michael Jackson. She was a trailblazing female journalist, alongside her longtime friend and colleague, Edith Lederer, both joining AP in the late 1960s.

Deutsch's remarkable work spanned a wide range of cases, from the conviction of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy's assassin, Sirhan Sirhan, to the trials of notorious figures like Patty Hearst, Phil Spector, and the Menendez Brothers. She was present during the sensational 'Trial of the Century' involving O.J. Simpson and provided extensive coverage of the proceedings.
