Manchester's celebhaunt bar and restaurant BLVD has announced it is relaxing it's strict dress code to allow shorts - amid the ongoing sweltering heatwave. The swanky Spinningfields bar is a hot spot for the city's celebrity and influencer crowds.
BLVD, pronounced "boulevard", is known for a strict "dress to impress" dress code, with a ban on "hoods, caps sportswear or heavy jewellery". But bosses of the venue have confirmed they have relaxed the no shorts element of the dress code to now include "smart shorts for men" while the heatwave continues.
The venue is known for famous faces paying a visit and this month has welcomed the likes of Love Island winner Davide Sacramenti partying with pals on his return from winning the show, as well as former Coronation Street stars Katie McGlynn and Arianna Ajtar. It is based on The Avenue North at the Bridge Street end of the Spinningfields district in the city centre.

The bar updated their Instagram account over the weekend to reflect the change. The post said: "Polite notice: Smart shorts for men are allowed over the weekend due to the hot weather."
A spokeswoman for BLVD confirmed the changes to the MEN. She said: "We certainly have relaxed the dress code due to the heat wave. Under normal circumstances the dress code is smart, dress to impress.
"It is no hoods, caps, sports wear or heavy jewellery.
"As the heat raised and the days and nights are hot hot hot we have relaxed the dress code and smart shorts are welcome." She added: "ID is always essential."
Another of Manchester's celebrity haunts hit the headlines this summer over its ban on shorts. Four different male customers took to Tripadvisor to complain over the dress code at Rosso Italian restaurant after being turned away for wearing what they claimed were "smart shorts".
In return, Rosso said their "smart" dress code is made clear on their website, and on every email to customers when making a reservation. On its website it states: "Rosso has a smart dress code – no shorts/sportswear/hats. Management retain the right to refuse entry."
