Danny Graham, 37, who has now been banned from the road, says he 'can't remember' why he drove his 4x4 into the convenience store on an exclusive estate in the North East whilst almost three times the limit.
Graham, who played for Middlesborough, Sunderland, Blackburn and Swansea during his career, appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Friday and pleaded guilty to drink driving.
