A CCTV image has been released as police look to trace a man in connection to theft from a car in South Shields.
Officers from Northumbria Police launched an investigation following a report of a theft on Brockley Avenue in South Shields overnight on January 21.
It was reported that an offender broke into a parked car and stole a quantity of cash and bank cards, before making off from the scene.

Northumbria Police now sat that the cards were later fraudulently used at a number of locations.
The CCTV image released by the force shows a man with short, dark hair and officers believe he was in the area at the time of the theft and may have information that can assist with their investigation.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "A full investigation has been launched, and as part of their enquiries, officers have identified a man who they would like to trace. He was in the area at the time of the theft and may have information that can assist officers."
The man, or anyone who knows him, is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or by calling 101 quoting crime number 008438L/23.
