CCTV appeal launched as man wanted in connection with burglary at Newcastle student accommodation

CCTV has been released as police look to speak to a man in connection with a burglary at a Newcastle city centre flat.

It was reported a man had gained entry to student accommodation at St James’ Point in Pitt Street, just after 4am on Thursday (December 1).

Officers from Northumbria Police believe he then tried several doors before gaining entry to the victim’s room while they were sleeping.

The victim woke up and disturbed the offender, who then left the room empty handed.

Officers investigating the burglary have today (December 23), released images of a man they would like to trace in connection with the incident who was in the area at the time and could help with enquiries.

The images show a man with dark brown hair and a beard, dressed in a black coat.

Anyone with information should contact Northumbria Police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page on the Northumbria Police website or by calling the non-emergency 101 line and quoting 142015R/22.
