CCTV appeal after 'attempted stabbing' on DLR service in east London

Police are investigating after a man allegedly kicked a passenger on board a London railway service before brandishing a knife towards him.

The incident - which is being treated by police as an attempted stabbing - reportedly happened on a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) train between Blackwall station and Westferry station.

Police have released an image of a man they want to trace.

A man entered the DLR carriage around 9.20pm on Wednesday (December 6) and shouted at the victim, who was seated, said British Transport Police (BTP) said in a statement."He then approached the victim, kicked him, before removing a knife concealed in his waistband and rapidly moving the knife towards the victim," said a BTP spokesperson.

"The man then put on a balaclava before leaving the train at Westferry. The victim was uninjured.

"Officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information which could help their investigation."

If you recognise the man in the image, or have any information, contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 58 of 07/12/2023.
