The last time the Atlanta Falcons finished a season with double-digit wins was back in 2017. In fact, the team has not had a winning record at any point over the last five seasons.
Considering the current state of the NFC South, along with Atlanta’s favorable 2023 schedule, the streak may finally come to an end this year.
After numerous media outlets projected laughable win totals for the Falcons last offseason, the narrative around the team seems to be shifting. For example, CBS Sports is projecting a 10-win season for Atlanta in 2023:
Color me bullish on the Falcons this season, even with the QB depth chart consisting of Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heineicke. This roster has a real Titans-esque feel to it if the defensive veterans improve things on that side and Bijan Robinson can be a true workhorse. The Falcons actually fell to 3-4 at one point when I went through their schedule before ripping off a slew of wins. If they come out hot, this schedule sets up really well. – Will Brinson, CBS Sports
The Falcons have a solid opportunity to start the season with a winning record in 2023. Atlanta has games against multiple first-year starters, including Panthers rookie Bryce Young and Packers QB Jordan Love in the first two weeks.
The biggest opening test will be the team’s Week 4 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. The Jaguars are one of three teams on the schedule to go the playoffs in 2022.
