Robyn McCall will continue righting wrongs for another season as CBS has officially ordered a fifth season of The Equalizer. The drama series stars Queen Latifah, who also serves as an executive producer, in the lead role of McCall, a former CIA operative turned freelance problem solver for individuals in need. The show is a modern reimagining of the 1985-89 series of the same name and is distinct from the Denzel Washington-led film franchise inspired by the original series.
With the renewal, The Equalizer will surpass the original series in the number of seasons aired, although it has not yet reached the episode count of the 1980s show. The current series will conclude its current season with 56 episodes, while the original series ran for 88 episodes.
