Catherine Tyldesley has shared her moment of shock over her daughter's arrival as she chatted to fans about becoming a second-time mum. The former Coronation Street star announced the birth of her baby girl back in April after reveling she was expecting her second child with husband Tom Pitfield back in October.
The actress, best known for playing Eva Price in the ITV soap from 2011 to 2018, shared the news of their daughter's safe arrival on Instagram, sharing a black and white image of the newborn's tiny legs and feet and writing: "We are so happy to announce that our beautiful daughter has arrived," she said. "We are grateful beyond words and feel overjoyed that our family is complete."
And just a couple of weeks ago Cath, who also shares seve-year-old son Aflie with Tom, shared the first photos of her daughter and revealed her adorable name for the first time as Iris Ella. The 38-year-old told Hello! magazine that she played a character called Iris Moss in the BBC drama Lilies in 2007 and she had "loved it ever since".

Their daughter’s middle name Ella is a tribute to Pitfield’s late grandmother. Cath also shared the first image of her baby girl as part of a family photoshoot with the magazine at her home in Cheshire alongside her husband and son Alfie. She said: "These first few weeks have been so precious. I’ve been living my best life. Iris will find her own way and decide what she likes. But for now, I’m going with the pink. I am a very girlie girl."
A couple of months on from Iris' arrival, Cath has opened up to fans about going from a mum-of-one to two as well as the struggles she faced during her pregnant. But she also shared a candid snap from the hospital, taken by Tom. The black and white snap showed the photographer cuddling their newborn while the new mum rested in bed.
As a fan asked: "How was the birth?" Cath replied: "She was born in 12 minutes... I'm still in shock!!!" She went on to reveal how she had to be induced as she was "super late" just like her son was. "I clearly have a very comfy womb," she joked.
Cath was also asked how her sleep is now after revealing while pregnant that she was suffering from pregnancy insomnia. She said back in February: "My hormone sensitivity means- some days I am met with loss of vision at several points during the day through ocular, hormone related migraines.
"I have had to pull over in my car and ride out vision loss, crying on my own till it passes…But baby needs those hormones to flourish. For me it’s an inconvenience- to her its staying alive." She continued: "My pregnancy insomnia means that some days, I can barely get out of bed. I can’t ignore my body- it’s doing it’s(sic) thing. Yes it’s hard - but my daughter is strong and thriving. That is what matters the most."
Offering an update during her Instagram Q&A, Cath said: "Sooo much better. My pregnancy was incredibly tough. It got to the point where I could barely function." She went on to say: "Tom practically solo parented for six months. Then as soon as she was born I started to sleep and felt like me again! Nuts!"
