A police investigation has been launched after an evil yob blasted two cats with a crossbow in Kingussie - killing one and badly injuring a second. The shocking incidents took place between Monday, July 18, and Friday, July 22, in the Kerrow Drive area of the Highlands town.
We previously told how pet owner Jim McLean was horrified to find the family’s 10-year-old cat with a nine-inch bolt lodged in his neck after being missing for two days. The ginger moggy, named Nuke, was rushed to the vet who was shocked that he had survived the sick attack.
The dart was shot through the cat’s shoulder blades and between his lungs - dodging his heart and spine by just inches. Jim, 52, fears the attack was deliberate due to Nuke’s friendly and affectionate behaviour.
He told how neighbours in the area are now scared to let their cats out in the area over fears they could also be targeted by the twisted yob responsible.
Police Scotland have now confirmed that a second cat was also targeted in the same manner but tragically lost its life. An investigation to catch the sick culprit remains ongoing with police appealing for help from the public.
Sergeant Craig McGhee said: “We are eager to trace whoever was responsible for these attacks and I am appealing to members of the local community to assist us with identifying those involved.
“If anyone saw anything suspicious around the time of this incident or has information that could help with our ongoing enquiries then please get in touch.
“You can contact officers via 101, quoting incident number 2421 of Friday, 22 July, 2022, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
