Casualty fans slam Max over Jodie spiking storyline as connection secret comes out

Casualty fans have hit out at Max Cristie's behaviour towards Jodie Whyte during the spiking storyline in last Saturday's episode.

Jodie began to feel unwell during a night out after speaking to a man called Noah and sharing a drink with him while she waited for Rida Amaan, who was finishing her shift.

She staggered her way towards the toilets with Noah in close attendance, but luckily was thrown out by the bar's security.

Jodie messaged Rida for help as she made her way through to the exit feeling ill and disoriented. However as she exited the bar, Noah grabbed her and bundled her into his car.

Jodie was coherent enough to send her location to Rida, who arrived just as she managed to escape from Noah's vehicle.

Rida took her back to the hospital and confided in Faith to keep quiet about Jodie being admitted as they tried to treat her.

There was another reason why Jodie wanted anonymity as a patient, which was due to her secret connection to clinical lead Max.

Jodie, who is a staff nurse, has had a difficult relationship with Max since she started at Holby City Hospital due to the fact that he is actually her father.

She wanted to keep the news under wraps but was forced to tell Rida the truth about their relationship when he saw his daughter in the emergency department and raged about "Jodie turning up here plastered", before Faith interjected.

She replied: "She wasn't drunk," to which Max snapped: "I saw her." Faith hit back saying: "Well I treated her," before he questioned whether it was drugs, which she confirmed was the case but without her knowledge.

Faith continued: "For the record, she was lucky. It could have been a lot worse. Now she's going to speak to the police, let's hope they listen with an ounce more compassion than you did."

And fans of the show were quick to condemn his actions on social media.

One fan wrote: "I never liked Max to begin with but after last episode I just dislike him even more.

"He has his own little grudge against Ryan so he keeps dismissing him which isn’t very professional and then as soon as he saw Jodie he began making assumptions without listening."

Another said: "Wind your neck in Max you don’t know the nightmare Jodie has been through."

A third comment: "When the realisation hit him! Oh dear Max, you have a lot of grovelling to do. Poor Jodie."
