Castle Douglas High School senior pupils enjoy awards ceremony

Young people from S4, S5 and S6 at Castle Douglas High School enjoyed their first awards ceremony since before the Covid-19 pandemic in a packed assembly hall filled with pupils and their families.

With the hall busy with family, teachers and pupils it was very hot, however, the senior house captains kept the proceedings flowing and everyone enjoyed the event.

Together they celebrated and publicly acknowledged the successes and accomplishments of the senior pupils and listened to some of the talented young musicians.

As masters of ceremony, the senior pupils took the opportunity to thank Mr Courten (technical subjects) and Mr Henderson (geography), who will retire at the end of the session, for their service to Castle Douglas High School.

The pupils presented engraved glassware as a token of their thanks.

All of the young people receiving an award have had a successful year at school.

The event allowed everyone to acknowledge achievement and gave parents and staff the chance to thank the senior pupils for their efforts and commitment throughout the session.

All in attendance were there to congratulate recipients of each award for doing their best and for living up to the values of Castle Douglas High School.
