A brand new work, wellness, and social space is set to open in Leeds after summer.
Alea Casino at Leeds Dock closed its doors in March 2013 leaving many wondering what it is going to be turned into. Planning applications were subsequently approved in 2014 for the conversion the casino to offices and an ancillary café and in 2015 for the change of use to the casino with a two-storey extension, but neither of these were approved.
Now a new planning application developed by Allied London on behalf on All Work and Social will see the four-storey building home a technology, media, and creative business space. The creative waterside community is also home to Sky and Channel 4.

The work space will be aimed at small start-ups through to large businesses, with hot desks, resident desks, private office suites, satellite office functions, meeting and event spaces and a glass boardroom across three floors.
Around 4,000 jobs and 1,925 homes could be created under new plans. What's more, there will be new eateries including The Canary Bar, North Star Coffee and Pizza Express, as well as a gym and cinema.
A spokesperson said: "Of the available space that remains in Department Leeds Dock, businesses of up to 70 team members can be catered for, with flexible memberships, from hot desks and resident desks to bespoke suites for businesses requiring privacy and larger requirements. Department also incorporates spaces, which welcome non-members, to host meetings, events and roundtables.
"Work amenities include hot desks, resident desks, meeting and events spaces, private work studios, premium suites and state-of-the-art production and content creation studios. A dedicated community team is on site to provide an elevated experience to the workspace.
"As part of Department’s mission to enable a work-life balance, members will also have access to Condition gym within the Leeds Dock district with daily fitness classes, changing facilities and bike storage directly on-site.
"The social element of Department comes from Dept Coffee, a cinema, community events, Leeds Dock culture festivals, and most notably the unique food, drink and retail concept, Department Store. Department Store will be an immersive lifestyle destination designed to showcase independent brands and boutique retailers, with scheduled experiences for the creative community."
Anthony Powell, managing director at Department, said: “Relationships with workspaces are completely different to how they were two years ago. Now, businesses need adaptability, flexibility and somewhere that is more than a workplace.”
"Brands and businesses looking to join Department will find themselves within a wider creative community at Leeds Dock."
