Looking back on this week in court, one of the biggest cases to be dealt with involved the terrible killing of a grandfather who was stabbed by his youngester daughter. Ann Dixon , 49, of Moorbridge Lane, Stapleford, had walked into Ray Dixon's bedroom and stabbed him in the chest and twice in the back.
Brave Ray, who was 77 when he died, was able to call an ambulance and told the operator he needed help and, "my daughter has stabbed me". Ray tragically died, and Dixon, who has paranoid schizophrenia and believes "the devil" instructed her to kill him, went on to plead guilty to his manslaughter by diminished responsibility on Wednesday, April 20.
She was sentenced by Judge Gregory Dickinson QC, the Recorder of Nottingham, on Thursday, April 21, to a hospital order without limit of time. Read the full story here.
