Ted Lasso has penned an emotional letter to Cameron Carter-Vickers applauding his inspiring journey to the World Cup with the USA - and plastered it on a billboard in his hometown.
The Celtic defender made the 26-man cut for Qatar after his impressive form helped Ange Postecoglou 's team storm to a commanding lead in the Premiership at the break. He's one of a host of SPFL representatives heading to the Middle East to proudly represent their countries and will be part of a US team who are being tipped to make a splash.
With Carter-Vickers, alongside the likes of AC Milan's Sergino Dest, Juventus' Weston McKennia and Chelsea 's Christian Pulisic, there is real optimism they can bounce back from failing to qualify in 2018 and make the knockout stages, after landing in a group with Iran, Wales and England. US Soccer have been pulling out all the stops to inspire their stars and inspiring messaged from Lasso - who doesn't actually exist outside of his TV show, where he is played by Jason Sudekis - have been exploded onto billboards in the hometowns of all 26 players called up.
Carter-Vickers was put up in Baton Rouge, where he spent his summers as a child alongside his dad, basketball player Howard Carter. And it applauds his nomadic story, which led him from Catholic United, to Tottenham, to Celtic, and now to Qatar, as "the most American thing I've ever heard of".
It reads: "Cameron, so let me get this straight. Your dad is a French citizen who met your mother in Greece, raised you in Essex. You summered in Baton Rouge and now are playing for the US Men's National Team!
"If that's not the most American thing I've ever heard of then I don't know what is. Okay, maybe Susan and Anthony slam dunking an apple pie, but honestly, y'all are neck and neck.
"That is until you and the boys bring home the glory, then we'll all be saying 'look at that Bald Eagle! It's almost as American as Cameron Carter-Vickers!' Eagle Enthusiast, Ted Lasso."
