Carrie Johnson wears £7-a-day rented Karen Millen dress to Queen’s funeral

Carrie Johnson joined her husband, the former Prime Minster Boris Johnson, this morning in walking up to Westminster Abbey for HM The Queen’s State funeral.

Dressed, as the majority of guests will be, in sombre black, Carrie chose not only to adhere to the Royal funeral dressing rules, which request below-knee-length black dresses and shoes, but also to champion sustainable fashion for the momentous occasion that’s set to be watched by 4.1 billion viewers.

Enlisting the services of her favourite rental platform My Wardrobe HQ, Carrie opted for a full length, long-sleeved belted black dress by Boohoo-owned label Karen Millen that comes with gold buttons down the front. A sustainable choice that also comes in at a credit crunch-friendly £7-a-day to hire.

Carrie, who famously rented her wedding dress for £45 and also rocked an entirely rented wardrobe to the G7 Summit last summer, has made rental fashion her go-to for event dressing, and My Wardrobe HQ, one of the earliest players in the market, is her favourite platform.

The mother-of-two accessorised her sophisticated look with a simple top handle black leather handbag with gold hardware and a classic pillbox style hat with spotted veil.

Other arrivals looking the part this morning include world leaders Jill Biden, and Brigitte Macron.
