Caroline Flack’s mother welled up with tears as she said the sadness over her daughter’s death “doesn’t go”.
Christine Flack and friend Natalie Pinkham appeared on Good Morning Britain to promote Flackstock, a festival close friends and family are organising in honour of the late Love Island host.
Speaking to GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Adil Ray, she said: "She loved dancing, singing, she loved festivals.
"There was such negativity around when she died that this was something she would have really liked.
“It’s the best way I can think that we can celebrate her.”
When asked about her feelings after her daughter’s death she added: “I just feel really sad and I don’t think that feeling’s going to go - I think you just feel there’s a sadness.
“But you get on with things. Everybody has to get on with life and do things – but the sadness doesn’t go.”
The festival will take place on July 25 raising funds for “reactive and proactive” mental health organisations.
Money raised will be split between charities Choose Love, Charlie Waller Trust, Samaritans and Mind at the Reading event, held in Englefield House.
The line-up includes singers Masked Singer winner Natalie Imbruglia, Louise Redknapp and Fleur East.
Other celebrity appearance on the day will include Professor Green, Dermot O’Leary, Kirsty Gallacher and Joel Dommett.
Strictly Come Dancing professionals Janette Manrara and Alijaz Skorjanec will be performing at the festival, in celebration of Flack, the twelfth Strictly winner.
Caroline Flack was found dead at her home in London in February 2020 after taking her own life.
