Carol Vorderman says she remains 'proud' of Wales but will now support England in the World Cup

Former Countdown star Carol Vorderman is a "proud" Welsh woman and as Wales played in the World Cup she voiced her support loud and clear via social media posts and by wearing red outfits during her daytime television appearances. But now that Wales have been knocked out of the tournament by England, she's throwing her support behind the other British team.

Taking to Twitter minutes after the final whistle on Tuesday, November 29, the 61-year-old media personality shared a tweet from Scott Saunders which showed the "Red Wall" of Wales football supporters singing the Welsh national anthem to the players.

In response, Carol wrote a passionate message quoting the video: "We love our "bois" and remain so proud of them @FAWales. The smallest nation to qualify, and with the biggest heart. Always proud to be Welsh #TheRedWall.

"But Congratulations to England....God's speed. Now bring it home. We need some good news in the UK right now xx"

Following this tweet, fans flooded her with comments. One user wrote: "You're right Carol. To get to the World Cup finals after so long. They made the Welsh nation proud."

Another said: "Hard to take the first goal when it was a dive, but they gave their all!" A third and fourth added: "Beautifully said Carol" and "Tidy tweet".

But others weren't so keen to switch allegiances and get behind 'Old Enemy' England. One said: "England winning the World Cup would actually ruin my entire year." And another simply added: "No thanks Carol."
