There were awkward scenes in The One Show studio as Carol Vorderman gave a brutal reaction to host Roman Kemp complaining that he didn’t get a call for I’m A Celebrity South Africa. Carol, 62, was joined by I’m A Celeb co-star Jordan Banjo to chat to Roman and Alex Jones about the new ITV spinoff series.
Alex asked Carol: “Why did you decide to go back in?” and the former Countdown presenter replied: “Well I loved it. Jordan and I, funnily enough, were in it together in 2016.”
Carol then turned to Roman and asked: “You were three years later I think?” and he said: “I was indeed, yeah. Just missed the invite for this one. I saw it and the line up was coming out and I was waiting by the phone.” Carol then abruptly responded: “Soz!”

Carol finished in eighth place in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! during her series in 2016. Roman, meanwhile, came in third place in I’m A Celebrity’s 2019 series which saw EastEnders star Jacqueline Joss crowned Queen of the Jungle.
The new I’m A Celebrity South Africa spinoff will see several old faces from the show’s past return. Carol and Jordan join the likes of Helen Flanagan and Paul Burrell in a bid to be crowned the series’ first Celebrity Legend.
A synopsis for the new series reads: "They survived the Australian jungle but South Africa is an even harder proposition which will push them to their limits and test them like never before. The challenges are bigger and tougher and the environment harsher and more unforgiving. With no public vote they will be competing against each other in a battle to become the first ever 'I'm A Celebrity Legend'. Whilst nodding back to the Australian jungle, I'm A Celebrity...South Africa is a uniquely different series so viewers can look forward to lots of unexpected twists and turns.”
I’m A Celebrity South Africa begins on ITV1 and ITVX on Monday, April 24, at 9pm. For more TV and showbiz stories subscribe to our newsletter here.
