Carol Vorderman opens up on how she keeps romances with five 'special friends' going

Carol Vorderman has explained the details of how her relationship with five 'special friends' works.

The 62-year-old has been very open and honest about her life and previously admitted that she dates multiple men at the same time.

The former Countdown star refers to the mysterious men in her life as her 'special friends'.

Despite having more than one partner, Carol says it works out well as she isn't a jealous person, writes The Mirror.

Speaking to You magazine, Carol said that her 'special friends' are single and she wouldn't bat an eyelid if they fell for someone new.

She said: "Oh yeah, yeah, my 'special friends'," before adding: "I'm continuing with that system and it's working very well."

Carol said that one of them has been part of her life for 11 years and she has known another for seven.

She also said that her children Katie, 31, and Cameron, 25, know most of her partners.

She said: 'I'm not a jealous person and I'm happy when my friends are happy, whether they are 'special friends' or not.

"The goal of my life is to be happy, not to be in love. I just find people interesting and life interesting.

"And you can get to a stage where you choose which bits you enjoy. You can't in your 30s because you're making your way in your career, you're beholden to bosses and all those sorts of things. But in your 60s…"

Back in January, Carol revealed the 'system' she put place with her lovers.

During her appearance on Michelle Visage's Rule Breakers, Carol admitted that she has been having the "best time".

She said: "I spoke a couple of months ago about having 'special friends' and it was like, again, the world had fallen in for some people but actually what I found was there was an awful lot of women who said 'I'd never thought about it like this'.

She went on to say that she is in 'long-term relationships if you like' with the special friends.

She added: "One's 11 years, one's seven years, you know everyone is single. It's a happy place. I hasten to add I'm not into one night stands."
