Coleen Nolan was left looking like she’d been slapped in the face when her Loose Women co-star Carol McGiffin bluntly rejected an invitation to join her on a hen party.
The 57-year-old Nolan Sisters star is twice divorced having been married to soap star Shane Richie from 1990 until 1999 and then married to musician Ray Fenson from 2007 until 2018.
The star is currently dating a 57-year-old gentleman named Michael Jones who works in logistics for a supermarket chain – and rumours have swirled that the pair became engaged last year.
But while Coleen has remained relatively coy over whether or not she will wed her current man, she has explained she is set to attend a lavish hen party in the coming weeks.
Appearing on the Loose Women panel on Wednesday alongside 62-year-old Carol, 59-year-old Jane Moore and 33-year-old Frankie Bridge, Coleen revealed she’s been invited to the hen do of her future daughter-in-law.
Her 32-year-old son Shane Jr, who she shares with ex-husband Shane Richie, 58, is set to marry former Miss Manchester model Maddie Wahdan.
Coleen explained: “My future daughter in law, we’re going on her hen do soon, and it’s five or six days in Dubai.”
An astonished Jane Moore then remarked: “That’s going to cost a fortune!”
Coleen then gasped: “I know! Why do you think I’m trying to get more days on this show? They’re not letting me!”
She continued: “No, honestly. It’s a holiday, isn’t it? There is a part of me that thinks what’s wrong with just going out for a great meal with your friends? Or even an overnight stay somewhere lovely in this country?”
Frankie then discussed her own hen party ahead of her 2014 wedding to Wayne Bridge, 41, explaining that she could afford to whisk her friends off to Ibiza.
The singer said: “I did go to Ibiza for my hen do, but we were 23 or 24. And I think all my friends were just so excited because I was the first one. But I was willing to cover a lot of the cost of that. Otherwise I would never have taken my friends to Ibiza if I thought it was going to be a strain for them.”
Carol then asked if Frankie would pay for her to go on a hen do somewhere, before declaring: “I love a hen do. And you know when you go on the plane early in the morning and there’s all these girls with, like, pink feather boas and blow up men!
“I always think; ‘I wanna be with that lot!’”
Seeing an opportunity, Coleen then asked Carol, who had just declared she would rush off to join a hen party at the drop of a hat, if she would like to come to Maddie’s hen do in Dubai.
Coleen asked: “Will you come with me to Dubai?” – but Carol bluntly declared: “No.”
As Coleen’s face fell into an expression of disappointment, Carol then swiftly added: “I can’t afford it!”
The exchange may raise eyebrows among Loose Women fans as reports this year have suggested there is a bitter rivalry between the panellists behind-the-scenes with some reports suggesting various regular panellists refuse to appear alongside Coleen.
Coleen herself has always rejected this suggestion and has claimed she has an excellent working relationship with all her co-stars.
