When you board a Carnival or Royal Caribbean cruise ship, a lot of passengers head right for the onboard pizza place, It's not that the pizza is overly good (although some people really love it), it's just that free, all-you-can-eat pizza is a cherished part of cruising, especially for younger cruisers,
While both cruise lines have many other dining options, pizza is often the easy answer for what to eat between meals. Should you need a snack between a buffet breakfast and lunch or after a multi-course sit-down dinner? Probably not, but a lot of passengers eat it.

Royal Caribbean (RCL) offers pizza at either its dedicated Sorrento's locations or at Cafe Promenade on ships that don't have the standalone pizzeria. Carnival (CCL) has two pizza concepts, Pizzeria del Capitano and Pizza Pirate.
One passenger recently asked Brand Ambassador John Heald to clarify when you can get pizza onboard Carnival ships.

Carnival's pizza is usually available
"My husband has an obsession for the pizza place on every ship (I'm not fond personally) it was 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on a few ships and the last one we were on they were open til 6 a.m. Is it still a 24-hour pizza place, or does it have specified times?" Alessandra Beck wrote. "We will be on Carnival Vista this weekend. Because our anniversary is October 20. We are definitely needing this vacation after the rotten year we have had and Carnival is our go-to pick-me-up!"
Heald answered, but he did not actually get it completely right.
"Thank you, I want to wish you the most fabulous time. Pizza is open from 10 AM till 3 a.m. across the fleet. I hope you get to enjoy this and so much more and please remember if I can do anything at all for you please let me know. I sincerely wish you both nothing but happy days," he wrote.

On the ships where the pizza shop has the Pizzeria Del Capitano branding, it's actually open for counter service until 4 a.m.
In addition, all Carnival ships offer 24/7 pizza delivery, and it's not just room service.

In addition to pizza, Carnival offers a late-night menu in its Lido buffet that includes comfort foods like meatball subs and chicken noodle soup. Passengers can also get chicken tenders, cookies, and a handful of other items.
The serving times for this menu vary depending upon the ship and itinerary.
