Carlos Rodon’s Wife Calls Report About Husband’s Back Injury ‘Bulls---’

Yankees offseason acquisition Carlos Rodon has yet to feature for the team in the regular season while nursing a lingering back injury.

On Monday, a report from commentator Jomboy on Talkin’ Yanks indicated that unverified sources within the organization said to “not get your hopes up” in regards to Rodon returning to pitch for New York this season.

Those comments prompted a response from Rodon’s wife, Ashley, who lambasted the report as being “bulls---” before declaring herself a reliable source on the topic.

Rodon first landed on the IL after sustaining a forearm injury during spring training. Manager Aaron Boone revealed in early April that the lefty’s return to action was being delayed by the emergence of a back injury.

Last week, Boone revealed that the 30-year-old was still struggling to “get over the hump” when it came to his back injury.

Rodon himself indicated that doctors called his back issues “chronic” and refused to put a timeline on his return to action. The eight-year veteran is expected to receive a cortisone shot this week in order to help alleviate the tightness he’s feeling.

Rodon signed a six-year, $162 million deal with the Yankees in December and was expected to serve as one of their headlining starting pitchers.
