Carlos Gu's 'bizarre' Strictly request to Molly Rainford pays off as they earn series high score

Carlos Gu issued a 'bizarre' request to partner Molly Rainford ahead of Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing, which paid off as the couple received a series high score.

New Strictly pro Carlos and CBBC star were hoping to bounce back from the disappointment from landing in the bottom two again last week, surviving for a second time as Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin were voted off Strictly, as the show reached the half way mark for this year. The aim for the nine remaining couples was to make it through to Blackpool, with the Strictly cast and crew making the trip to the seaside town next week, for the first time in three years.

Molly and Carlos looked to evade danger with a rumba to Whitney Houston's classic ballad All The Man I Need and, in rehearsals, Molly revealed she was taken aback by Carlos' instruction that she 'walk like a cat.' As unusual as an order as it was, it most certainly worked as their routine went like a dream on Saturday night's live show.

And it got better for the young couple as self proclaimed 'queen of the rumba,' head judge Shirley Ballas waxed lyrical about Molly's rumba walks and the whole routine. As she and Carlos spoke to host Claudia Winkleman, Molly said she struggled with being told to 'walk like a cat.'

Carlos' instruction and Molly's determination to do her partner proud paid dividends as their rumba was rewarded with their highest score of the series so far - 37 out of 40.
