Outgoing Celta Vigo boss Carlos Carvahal has confirmed his departure from the La Liga side after guiding them to safety. The 57-year-old Portuguese head coach has been linked with the vacant managerial role at Leeds United.
Esporte claims the Whites have held talks with the former Sheffield Wednesday boss, who lead the Owls to the play-off final in his first season at Hillsborough. A managerial decision is expected to come to fruition in the near future but the ongoing Leeds United takeover has delayed proceedings.
The Whites have been linked with Carvahal, Scott Parker, Steven Gerrard, Brenden Rodgers and Daniel Farke following on from Sam Allardyce's departure at Elland Road. The club is gearing up for their first season back in the Championship after a three-year absence.
In a statement released on social media, Carvahal said: "Many years ago, I often travelled from Balaidos to Braga, and I learned to admire the club and supporters that I've not had the pride of representing.

"As I say goodbye, I feel proud that the club remains where it deserves to be: Primera Division in its centenary year. From today, there'll be another Celista in the stands. I'll be back..."
