Casper Ruud rocks Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets: ATP Finals tennis – as it happened

Massive win for Ruud. His third top three win of his career and his first outside of clay and just his third win in 12 matches. Not dropping a set will also be a big boost for his chances to advance to the knockouts.

That is all from me today! Thanks for tuning in and join us tomorrow for live coverage of Jannik Sinner v Taylor Fritz.

More reaction from Ruud as he talks to Sky Sports:

I really returned really well when I needed to. When you play Carlos, you don’t want him to find rhythm. Luckily he made a few more errors than usual. We all know his level. He can play out of this world.

It’s the first match of the tournament for both of us. It’s a fast indoor court, which I think is neither of our favourite. I play as an underdog. I think there are a lot of players ahead of me here but I tend to do well here. I don’t know why. My game has not been boosting me of confidence in the last few months so it was really nice to get a win.
