Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has explained what cost Liverpool as they were knocked out of the Champions League and explained why his side were "cheating."
The Reds lost 1-0 in their last-16 second-leg tie at the home of the La Liga giants on Wednesday night. Karim Benzema scored the only goal of the game to hand Liverpool a 6-2 defeat on aggregate.
The Reds went into the match needing to score at least three goals to have a chance of progressing to the quarter-final. However, Madrid restricted Jurgen Klopp’s men to very few clear opportunities to get on the scoresheet.

Afterwards, Ancelotti spoke about what his side did to stop Liverpool and explained what he thinks “cost” the Reds. The Madrid boss went on to joke that his side were “cheating” on a psychological level.
“I think we played and managed it well,” said Ancelotti. “We didn't defend with a low block and we tried to handle the ball well.
“We had opportunities and we were solid at the back. It's the match we wanted.
“Pressing up has cost them. [Luka] Modric and [Toni] Kroos handle this type of match very well. They get the ball out very well from behind.”
Ancelotti added: “I liked the team. On a psychological level, it is cheating.
“We had a three-goal lead and we haven't slowed down on the accelerator”.
