Carl Woods allowed to postpone court date so he could stay in Thailand with Katie Price

Katie Price's fiancé Carl Woods has been allowed to postpone his court appearance so that he can stay in Thailand with the former glamour model.

The 33-year-old was due to appear in court after being charged by police under under Section 4 of the Public Order Act.

Former Love Island star Carl was set to appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court this Thursday, but the case has now been moved to Wednesday, March 23.

Essex Police confirmed last month that the former Love Island star has been charged under section 4 of the Public Order Act following an arrest last August, and the force confirmed on Tuesday that there were no amendments to the charge.

Katie and Carl jetted off to Thailand late last month and the lovebirds are still there now, living it up in the sunshine.

Both stars have been keeping fans updated on their romantic getaway as they have been sharing an array of loved-up snaps with one another.

An insider has claimed that Carl was allowed to stay on holiday for the sake of Katie's 'mental health'.

"The change of date was instigated by the defence side," the source told Mail Online.

"They asked for the case to be moved for a couple of weeks on the basis of him being currently in Thailand looking after Katie's mental health. The holiday was organised as a much needed break from it all for her."

The court case was expected to bring an end to the long-running and denied claims of Carl's 'threatening and abusive behaviour' towards Katie.

The pair have faced much criticism during their time together, and most recently, Carl lashed out at the people who were accusing him of hitting Katie, claiming that he's a 'victim of lies'.

The former reality TV star began a lengthy statement on his Instagram story by writing: "Now it's my turn everything I say I have proof".

He went on to insist that his charge is nothing to do with the alleged assault on Katie last year, and instead, said it referred to an argument they had in the street, during which he admits he used 'foul language'.

Carl said in a video on his Instagram story: "So everyone that's messaging me saying, 'Oh you attacked Katie, you did this, the truth is out' - no, the truth's not out. It's not out at all.

"Look at what's been written, nowhere has it said that I've been charged with assaulting Katie, they haven't said that. No one's said I've been charged with coercive controlling behaviour, nobody's said that, 'cause it's not true, it hasn't happened."

Carl clapped back at the speculation in a recent Instagram video (carljwoods/Instagram)

He went on: "I'll tell you now, I was charged with a public order [offence], yeah I have been, me and Katie argued in the street, yeah I used foul language, I got charged for that okay, that's a public order offence, nothing to do with anything else."

Continuing to insist he has proof, he continued: "I didn't lay a finger on her, right, didn't ever coercively control her, anyone who thinks you can control Katie Price you've got to be off your head 'cause you can't, right.

"There's lots and lots of things that I've got that absolutely cover me and prove that I am completely and utterly innocent, so it is coming - factual proof, black and white, unarguable, okay, unarguable."

The couple seem to be really enjoying their break in Thailand, following Katie's latest string of cosmetic procedures.

The Mirror has reached out to Carl's representatives for comment.
