Carl Starfelt says Celtic cannot take their eye off the ball as Scottish Cup complacency could ruin treble hopes

Carl Starfelt insists Celtic won't be letting any complacency creep in as they bid to win yet another treble with a Scottish Cup final triumph on Saturday.

Only second-tier Inverness Caledonian Thistle stand in their way, with the Highland outfit having beaten two Scottish Premiership teams in Livingston and Kilmarnock so far this season in their wild cup run - which included a bye to the fifth-round after Queen’s Park fielded an ineligible player, despite the Lesser Hampden side being 2-0 up at the Caledonian Stadium.

Celtic, meanwhile, have only lost three games on domestic soil this season, with two of those coming after the title was sewn up at the start of May - perhaps taking their foot off the boil in the league. But Starfelt has hammered home the notion that the Hoops won't let this game slide as they aim to secure a fifth domestic title from a possible six against Billy Dodds' side to achieve total dominance amongst their fellow Scottish peers.

Starfelt said: “That won’t help us on the day, we need to work hard and perform. To be fair we have tried not to look too far past. After the Aberdeen game we turned our eyes to the Cup Final.

“All our focus was to get back to a little bit where we have been all the season. Not conceding easy goals, being relentless and being a really hard team to face.

“That was our focus. We need to focus on ourselves and our game. I am sure we will do that and we will go into the cup final with a really big confidence we can win the cup.”
