Carl Starfelt has Celtic injury fears eased with Swedish 'forecast' providing hope after Scottish Cup knock

Sweden boss Janne Andersson has allayed Celtic fears over an injury to Carl Starfelt after he limped out of their Scottish Cup clash with Hearts.

The Hoops won 3-0 to progress into a semi-final with Rangers but the centre-back came off at half-time with an injury. Despite this, Andersson has called upon him for national duty and admits he fully expects to see him turn out in yellow this month. Sweden will take on Belgium and Azerbaijan later in March before Starfelt returns to Glasgow for the final stages of Celtic's treble pursuit.

It has been strongly hinted by his nation's national team manager that the defender will be in line for his sixth cap when action gets underway against the Belgians a week on Friday in Stockholm. Providing an update, Andersson said: "The forecast with Carl Starfelt is quite positive. He should be available otherwise I would not have called him."

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou said at the weekend: "He felt a niggle in his hip flexor during the warm-up actually, he felt it early on in the game but we got it through to half-time and we could see he wasn't moving well in the first half. You could see he wasn't his normal self so we made the change."
