Presenter and Dancing with the Stars winner Carl Mullan has revealed he is renovating his Dublin home with his wife and they are planning to expand their kitchen.
Mullan, who danced his heart out every Sunday on the show, bought a house in Walkinstown four years ago with his wife Ais, but they are only getting around to fixing it up now.
Since the pair bought the house they have got engaged, welcomed a baby and got married - now they are expecting baby number two.
Speaking to RSVP Magazine, Carl said: "We bought a house in Walkinstown in 2019 and the main thing we wanted to get done was our kitchen. Between our wedding and having a baby, it took us a while.
"We had the builder booked in and then Dancing with the Stars came along and I was thinking it was a mad idea to do both at the same time.
"But we knew if we missed the slot with the builder we probably wouldn’t get him for another year.
"We are rearranging the kitchen and knocking a couple of walls. It will be nice for Daibhí to have more space for running around."
The DWTS winner also hosts a breakfast radio show on 2fm and boasts a modest 400,000 followers on social media, meaning that must come with negativity online.
He explained: "There were weeks where I read negative comments but there was nothing abusive.
"If anything, it was just people with a difference of opinion because they were so invested in the show over the 11 weeks."
Some viewers had branded the show "a fix" because he works in RTÉ and certain people were calling it "Dancing with the Staff".
Carl said: "I don’t think that is true because there have been loads of people who won that haven’t been RTÉ staff.
"The result was decided by a public vote so that puts those comments to bed. I went into this to work as hard as I possibly could.
"Honestly, I thought we would be gone in week three or four and I was delighted to get past week six.
"While we were waiting for the results to be called out every week, I knew we couldn’t have worked any harder.
"Even in the final, I couldn’t believe how calm I felt. Whatever people say about me working in RTÉ, I know I put the work in and I can stand over it."
