Carl Frampton voices support for striking NHS workers

Former world champion boxer Carl Frampton has expressed his support for striking NHS workers saying that they should be "paid what they deserve".

Following the birth of his baby daughter Mila, the North Belfast boxer has expressed his admiration for the doctors, nurse and midwives working in the NHS, saying that they provide the highest quality of care despite the intense pressure they are under.

In recent weeks, health workers across the UK have been taking to picket lines as they take strike action calling for better pay and conditions during the Cost of Living Crisis, as they have received a real-terms paycut for years.

Carl has said that everyone should support these health workers in seeking better pay and not to listen to politicians trying to label them as greedy.

He said: "Over the last six days I've witnessed first hand how hard doctors, nurses and midwives of the NHS work. I've also witnessed the intense pressure that they are under. Even still the care my wife and new baby daughter received was second to none.

"Don't believe the Tories when they say that these people who are looking for a fair pay rise are greedy. These are the same Tories who wasted £15billon on unused pandemic supplies with a lot of contacts for these supplies going to their Tory donor friends.

"I imagine that most people who work in the NHS as a doctor, nurse or midwife etc, are caring people who like to help others. Do you think that people like Sunak, Johnson and Mogg etc go into politics to help others? Or do they choose they careers for nothing other than self or financial gain?

"I support the workers and so should you. Pay them what they deserve."
