Emerging Nets star Caris LeVert, who has been out since suffering a dislocated right ankle on Nov. 12, is set to return to practice on Tuesday and might return to play before the All-Star break.
The news was first reported by ESPN and was confirmed to Newsday by an NBA source who indicated LeVert has been cleared for full-contact practice as soon as Tuesday. The Nets began a three-game homestand against the Bucks on Monday night at Barclays Center, and it continues with games against the Nuggets on Wednesday and the Bulls on Friday. They play road games Feb. 11 at Toronto and Feb. 13 at Cleveland before the break.
It's highly doubtful LeVert would return to action against the Nuggets after just one practice. But that would leave three more games before the break, and his return could happen at any time in that span.
LeVert's original injury was diagnosed as a subtalar dislocation. It looked gruesome, but he did not require surgery. At the end of a recent Brooklyn Nets video, there was footage showing LeVert working out at the team's training complex, and he has been on the court shooting for several weeks.
At the time of his injury, LeVert led the Nets with an 18.4 scoring average. They have slumped lately, losing three of four games since Spencer Dinwiddie suffered a thumb injury five games ago that required surgery, so LeVert's return is coming at a fortunate time for the Nets.
