Cargo of Hope: First Air Shipment of $100M U.S. Aid Package Departs Miami for Cuba

A plane cargo coming from Miami sits on the tarmac after landing at the Jose Marti international airport in Havana on July 21, 2026. The United States announced it was sending the first part of a $100 million aid package to Cuba -carrying "pre-packaged food and hygiene kits for up to 700 Cuban families"- as the island suffers a deep economic crisis under pressure from Washington. A 7Air Cargo charter flight departed Miami International Airport carrying the inaugural shipment of a $100 million U.S. humanitarian pledge destined for Cuban residents. This initial departure converts a commitment made months ago by Secretary of State Marco Rubio into tangible relief, even while Washington maintains strict diplomatic pressure against Havana. U.S. diplomatic personnel were designated to monitor the arrival of the supplies upon landing.
