The Arizona Cardinals have the 23rd pick in the 2022 NFL draft and there are a number of directions they could go with that first pick, but there is definitely a player they like.
We recently heard that the Cardinals are one of a few teams with serious interest in Washington cornerback prospect Trent McDuffie.
He is expected to be drafted in the first round and might not even be available for the Cardinals to draft. However, if he is on the board, he will certainly be in the mix.
According to Nathan Mathison of the University of Washington’s “The Daily,” McDuffie said at his pro day that the Cardinals were one of two teams with whom he had built “a really strong relationship.”
There is a Washington connection in Arizona. The Cardinals have been fans of Washington defensive backs for years. They have cornerback Byron Murphy and safety Budda Baker, both of whom the Cardionals drafted in the second round, and linebacker Zeke Turner, who played safety at Washington, who will be back in 2022 for his fifth season with the team.
Keep an eye on McDuffie if he ends up sliding in the first round at all. He just might end up being the Cardinals’ pick at No. 23 if he is still there.
