Cardinals, Vikings have many player connections

The Arizona Cardinals have traveled to Minnesota for a pair of joint practices against the Vikings before the two teams play their preseason finale on Saturday.

We know of the coaching connections as head coach Jonathan Gannon, offensive coordinator Drew Petzing and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis all coached for the Vikings under former Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer.

However, there are a number of player connections between the two teams, too. Most are former Cardinals now on the Vikings.

Boyd signed with the Cardinals this offseason after playing four seasons with the Vikings. He was drafted by Minnesota in the seventh round in 2019.

Vikings LB Jordan Hicks

Hicks is in his seconds season with the Vikings after three years with the Cardinals.

Vikings CB Byron Murphy

Murphy is a new Viking. He signed in the offseason as a free agent after four seasons with the Cardinals. The Cardinals drafted him 33rd overall in 2019.

Vikings CB Tay Gowan

Gowan is back with the Vikings after playing three games for them last season. Gowan was drafted by the Cardinals in 2021 in the sixth round but never played for them.

Vikings DL Jonathan Bullard

Bullard played nine games for the Cardinals in 2019. He enters his second season with the Vikings.

Vikings LB Tanner Vallejo
