Cardinals still non-committal about Kyler Murray’s timeline to return

The Arizona Cardinals will play their fourth game of the season this weekend. After that, quarterback Kyler Murray will be able to be designated to return from PUP (physically unable to perform list). It would open a 21-day window for him to practice and then be activated. It would be the final step to his comeback from the torn ACL he suffered last December.

Murray himself posted on social media that his return is coming soon.

However, head coach Jonathan Gannon will not say exactly what the Cardinals’ plans are for Murray’s return.

“We will activate him when he’s ready to go practice,” he said this week. “That’s what we’ll do.”

Last week, Gannon was asked about it, too.

“We know the timetable of when he can return to play, but that doesn’t mean he will return to play and open his window then,” he said. “We’ve got our own timeline.”

He indicated that Murray could need “weeks” of practice before playing.

Technically, two weeks would be weeks. Three also, but he would have to be activated or be lost for the season.

Without anything from Gannon, we can just eye transactions until Wednesday. If he isn’t designated to return by Wednesday morning, we will know it will not be for at least another week.
