The Arizona Cardinals appear to be making some moves to have enough bodies to play in their preseason finale on Sunday. According to MLFootball, they are signing linebacker Chris Garrett.
Garrett is a 6-foot-4, 245-pound linebacker who would play off the edge.
He was the special teams player of the year this past season for the UFL, playing for the St. Louis Battlehawks. In nine games last season, he had 26 total tackles, one for loss, a sack and two forced fumbles. He also blocked two kicks.
He was drafted in the seventh round in 2021 by the Los Angeles Rams and appeared in one game that season. He has not played since.
He has spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings.
With the preseason finale this weekend against the Denver Broncos, it is possible that, in addition to starters Zaven Collins and Dennis Gardeck, other linebackers like Cam Thomas or Victor Dimukeje, if their roster spots are secured, they could sit out. They would need an extra body or two to play.
Considering he has gone unsigned until now, don’t expect him to be in consideration for the 53-man roster.
