Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy did not play on Sunday against the Tamp Bay Buccaneers after suffering a concussion in the second half of the team’s Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos.
He did not clear concussion protocol before the game but the Cardinals are hopeful that will happen this week and that he can return to the starting lineup.
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Monday that, as of then, he was hopeful McCoy could return.
McCoy did not practice Wednesday or Thursday but was limited on Friday, which is a step toward returning.
A player must be symptom-free for 24 hours after a return to a regular workload.
The Cardinals will have their first practice of Week 17 preparing for the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday.
