The Arizona Cardinals have a number of decisions to make this offseason about their roster as they have a new coaching staff and general manager. One is whether or not they will exercise the fifth-year option on linebacker Isaiah Simmons, the eighth overall pick in the 2020 draft.
That decision has not been made yet, general manager Monti Ossenfort said at the NFL combine this week.
“We’re working through that,” he said, via PHNX Sports. “The defensive staff is in their process of evaluating the roster and where guys fit and positionally where guys are going to play. We have until May to make that decision and we’ll make that decision when it’s appropriate.
Simmons enters his fourth season in the NFL.
In 2022, Simmons had 99 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, seven pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
He played linebacker, edge, safety and in the slot.
