Cardinals enter free agency with cap space to use

NFL free agency has begun, at least the “legal tampering” window has, and teams are beginning to agree to terms with free agents. It is a time when money is spent freely.

While at the time of publication the Arizona Cardinals have not made any moves, they have money to spend.

They enter free agency with about $36 million in salary cap space.

As of Monday at noon, Over the Cap had the Cardinals sitting with $32.6 million in cap space. That did not include the release of linebacker Markus Golden, which adds about $3 million in cap space.

The Cardinals have a lot of work to do. They have needs at almost every position, whether it is a starter or depth.

They have a new coaching staff which means new schemes.

Over the Cap has the Cardinals listed as having the sixth-most cap space in the league.

We will see how they use it in the days and weeks to come.
