Cardinals do not activate Kyler Murray from PUP for game vs. Browns

The 2023 debut of Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will wait another week, as expected. The team did not activate him from PUP on Saturday, making him ineligible to play on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

He wasn’t going to start on Sunday anyway.

The Cardinals must activate him by Wednesday or he would be ineligible to play the rest of the season. All signs point toward a return to the lineup in Week 10 at home against the Atlanta Falcons.

Rookie Clayton Tune is expected to start on Sunday in Cleveland.

Murray tore his ACL last December, had surgery in January and has spent all season on PUP. He was designated to return over two weeks ago and has had three full weeks of practice. He will have eight games to play this season and show he is still the team’s franchise quarterback.
