Cardinals’ defensive snap counts, observations from 2nd preseason game

The Arizona Cardinals played their second preseason contest Saturday night, losing 38-10 at home to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Defensively, they played a total of 62 snaps.

How was that playing time divided up?

Below we have the individual snap counts for every defensive player who entered the game, grouped by position, and observations we can take away from the playing time.

Defensive line

Rashard Lawrence, 20; Eric Banks, 20; Carlos Watkins, 19; Dante Stills, 18; Kevin Strong, 17; Ben Stille, 16; L.J. Collier, 15; Jacob Slade, 14; Jonathan Ledbetter, 11. Leki Fotu, 11

Fotu and Ledbetter got the starters treatment. Everyone else was pretty even.

Outside linebackers

Jesse Luketa, 26; Victor Dimukeje, 25; David Anenih, 23; Zaven Collins, 17; Dennis Gardeck, 13

The Cardinals were down Cameron Thomas and Myjai Sanders. Gardeck got hurt.

Inside linebackers

Josh Woods, 32; Krys Barnes, 26; Owen Pappoe, 25; Kyle Soelle, 13; Zeke Turner, 12; Kyzir White, 10

Woods played the most and played well. He started with White. Does that mean he will be the starter in Week 1? We will see.

Cornerbacks

Kei’Trel Clark, 35; Bobby Price, 26; Christian Matthew, 26; Antonio Hamilton, 21; Kyler McMichael, 19; Nate Hairston, 18; Marco Wilson, 17; Quavian White, 11

Clark started with Wilson and stayed in the game for more reps. Hamilton played some in the slot after Jalen Thompson came out of the game.

Safeties

Isaiah Simmons, 27; Andre Chachere, 23; Jovante Moffatt, 22; Jalen Thompson, 20; JuJu Hughes, 10; Budda Baker, 10; Sean Chandler, 9; Kendell Brooks, 4

Simmons got extended playing time and struggled.
