The Arizona Cardinals have added some depth to the team at running back. They announced the signing of veteran running back Damien Williams on Thursday.

Williams was brought in back in July for a workout.

Williams has been in the NFL since 2014 and is 31 years old.

Last season, he played in only one game for the Atlanta Falcons before being placed on injured reserve.

Before that, he spent a season with the Chicago Bears, two with the Kansas City Chiefs and four with the Miami Dolphins.

He is 5-foot-11 and 221 pounds. His best season was 2019 when he rushed for 498 yards and five touchdowns. That season, he added 196 yards and four touchdowns in the postseason, en route to a Super Bowl championship for the Chiefs.

Backup running back Keaontay Ingram is battling a neck injury. He missed the game last Sunday and did not practice on Wednesday.

If Ingram isn’t on track to play on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, Williams potentially could be used as a backup, getting elevated from the practice squad.
